Special Olympics at SDSBVI

SDSBVI and Special Olympics South Dakota provides sports training, athletic competition, health programs, and leadership opportunities. Through a wide variety of programs, athletes age 8 and up can develop physical fitness, build confidence, form lasting friendships, and showcase their abilities in an inclusive and supportive environment. Special Olympics South Dakota is dedicated to empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and creating a more inclusive world through the power of sport.

SDSBVI participates in the following sports:

Fall (September - Early November)

Traditional Bowling (events utilizing ramps available)

Spring (March - May)

Swimming (with and without lifejacket races)

Track & Field (wheelchair, walking, running, throwing, and jumping events available)

We have two fundraisers in the Fall to support the SDSBVI Special Olympics team throughout the year. Pigskin Madness (Late August) and STRIKES (mid-late October).

Please see or message Mrs. Fischer at Katie.M.Fischer@sdsbvi.northern.edu for more information or to register your student-athlete for Aberdeen SDSBVI's Special Olympic events.

Pigskin Madness

It is that time of the year again, Pigskin - SDSBVI Special Olympics fundraiser!

Pigskin Madness is a fundraising raffle which benefits the athletes of Special Olympics South Dakota. Tickets purchased prior to the posted cutoff are valid for all 18 weeks of the regular football season, meaning that each ticket has 19 chances to win (including the jackpot).

  1. The Tickets: Every ticket features 4 randomly selected professional football teams for each week of the season.

  2. The Action: At the end of every week, we add up the scores of those 4 teams.

  3. The Winners: The tickets with the highest (5) and lowest (1) total scores for the week win cash prizes.

  4. The Big Finish: At the end of the season, a Grand Prize is awarded for the highest combined score of the entire season.

The scores on the tickets and teams are based on NFL weekly games. You do not need to follow the scores if you don’t want to, or you can follow weekly results online. Special Olympics will notify you if you are a winner. Weekly prizes range from $20 to $200 and the Grand Prize is $1,000. Full rules can be found online.

Please see Mrs. Fischer at Katie.M.Fischer@sdsbvi.northern.edu to purchase a ticket ($20) or for any questions. Last day to purchase from Mrs. Fischer is Monday, August 31, 2026Tickets can also be purchased online ($21); please make sure to add SDSBVI as the delegation name.
